A Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) allows you to act as pilot-in-command of a single engine aircraft for the purpose of remuneration. The course includes a minimum of 150 hours of flying and 210 hours of ground theory. We offer these courses either on a full time or part time basis. Our CPL is designed for local and international students of 18 years with little or no previous flying experience.

The CPL has four main components:
1. Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL)
2. Private Pilot Licence Course (PPL)
3. CPL Flight Training and Hour Building
4. CPL Theory Examinations
The commercial pilot course can take anywhere between 6-18 months to complete depending on your learning rate and frequency of flying.

An indication of the realistic costs required towards the CPL:
40 hours solo C172 @ $273: $10,920
20 hours solo C182 @ $345: $6,900
25 hours dual C182 @ $445: $11,125
CPL Flight Test approximately: $1800
CASA exam fees (7 Subjects): $1200
VET Student Loan Information for Domestic Students
VET Student Loans commenced on 1 January 2017, replacing the VET FEE‑HELP scheme, which ceased on 31 December 2016. The VET Student Loan program is a practical and flexible solution to assist eligible students with the substantial investment required to become a Commercial Pilot. Amber Aviation is approved by the Department of Education and Training to offer eligible students the opportunity to defer tuition fees through the VET Student Loan program.

VET Student Loans allow participants to defer tuition payment until your income reaches a specified level. In 2017 the threshold is $54,869, and once you income exceeds this amount, your VET Student Loan is automatically repaid in increments via the tax system.
